DEATH TAKES THREE DURING PAST WEEK
Eli Heater passed away Thursday morning, June 22 at the home of his son, Chas. Heater. He was born at Unionapolis, Ohio, November 11, 1859 and was 74 years of age. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Ed Heater, and one daughter, Mrs Emma Furlong of Rochester, Washington. Mrs heater preceded him in death two years ago. Funeral arrangements have not been made as yet.
Mr Heater had been a resident of Milton for many years during which time he has been engaged in construction work, being a stonemason. His death is a severe shock to his many friends because of its suddeness. Although he had been in poor health recently, he was able to be up. He ate breakfast Thursday morning and afterwards laid down on the couch. Arising soon afterward he was stricken and died almost immediately.

ARTHA DOUGHERTY:Ed Lintz as I remarked before was the young man grandma Weaver wanted Aunt Martha to marry. She went with him a couple of months and decided he was not for
her. She said she promised to wait for someone else. Then ended up
marring Ed Doolittle instead. Ed Died 2/24/1920 and is buried in the
Milton-Freewater Cemetery. He had gone to help out his Mother with his
siblings because they were so ill with a flu. Apparently it turned into
pneumonia, he got it and died within a week. He mother in law sent Aunt
Martha a letter and said if you want to see him you had better get here
quick. He died shortly after her arrival. Then her mother in law told her
to pack up her brats and leave. Nice lady, huh?
I will post the names of the people I got from Aunt Martha later. Well
got to run, have to go help my kids at school.

DECEMBER 24, 1914 No. 30
Found Dead in Bed.
Mrs Louis Heater, for sometime a resident in Bow Creek township, was found dead in her bed one morning last week by her eight year old son, her husband being absent from home. A coroner's inquest was held over the body and after careful investigation returned a verdict showing the death was the result of a heart disease. A very pitiable story comes to us of her death. Mr Heater and six children , the oldest being eight years of age and the youngest ten months, were home alone. On the evening before her death, she was not feeling well and according to the little son's evidence he had prepare and given her some medicine just before he retired. Along in the night he heard the baby crying and knowing of his mother's illiness went to the bed and took the baby to bed with him. When morning came he got up and called to his mother, getting no response he went to her bedside and tried to rouse her. Getting no response he dressed the other children and loading the three smaller ones in a hand cart the six started out for their grandparents several miles away. Thus they went until the George Haynes home was reached where Mrs Haynes seeing them thought something must be wrong to force six as little fellows as they were out in the cold so early in the morning. so she stopped them to inquire the cause. The oldest told her his mama was asleep and he could not wake her. A telephone message sent Charley Haynes, the nearest neighbor, to the home where he found the mother of the little tots cold in that sleep from which there is no waking, death having come during the night, presumably earlier than when the baby cried. In making the trip the little fellows did they must have suffered terribly from the cold and we were told that one little girl's feet were frosted while another's fingers frozen.
