1. Silas1 Coe was born 28 Jun 1814 in Pennsylvania, and died 28 Feb 1901 in Milton, Umatilla, OR. He married Catherine Walter 26 Feb 1835 in WayneCounty, Ohio. She was born 19 May 1809 in ,Westmoreland County, PA, and died 24 Oct 1903 in Milton, Umatilla, OR.

Milton Eagle Vol.111 No.46 December 6th, 1889 - A Rich Ledge . . . During the past summer, while visiting relatives in Butter Creek, in the S.W. part of this county, Uncle Silas Coe discovered a well-defined gold quartz ledge at the head of the stream, in what is known 'as the Pot'. Samples of the float rock were sent to New York City for assay, and the result showed $100 to the ton. The ore is free working. The ledge is 12 feet wide and can be traced for a distance of one mile. A short distance from this new dicovered ledge is the "Yellow Jacket" mine operated by one man with an Arasta, who makes from $8 to $10 per day. On Sunday last, Mr Coe departed from Milton for his claim, and while there will arrange for its development. The famous "Cracker Creek" mine in Baker County yields $60 per ton, the quartz being similar to this newly discovered ledge.

Coe Funeral Rites Held
Milton-Freewater - The funeral of Mrs. Susan Coe was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Music was furnished by Oral Garner of Pendleton and during the service Mrs. Oral Garner and Mrs. Rolly Garner sang several selections.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam Adkins, Charles Spence, Charles Winn, Charles McKenzie, John Ross and C.D. Hobbs.
Active pallbearers were the five sons of the deceased, Arthur, Elmo, Harold, Ernest and Frank and her son-in-law Clyde Harris. The ladies of the G.A.R. of which Mrs. Coe was a member attended in a body.
Mrs. And Mrs. M.H. Rice who have been in Portland for some time where Mrs. Rice has been with her sister who is quite ill, has returned home. They had also visited their daughter, Mrs. Ralph Saylor of Echo.

Death Claims Mrs. Susan Coe
Mrs. Susan Henrietta Frazier Coe, pioneer resident of Milton, died Saturday afternoon at her home at the age of 89. She came to Milton in November, 1867, with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William S. Frazier, who farmed the land on which Milton now stands.
Her mother was Rachel Paulina Williams of Alabama; her father was born in North Carolina. The two were married in Tennessee, moved to Arkansas, and then to Texas, where Mrs. Coe was born in Jackson City on April 20, 1857.
The Fraziers and another family started for the Willamette valley by mule teams in April of 1867, and arrived in the Grande Ronde valley that fall. The Fraziers decided to stay in the Walla Walla district, living for a year on the Ingle place near Stateline and then moving to Milton.
They farmed land which is now the south end of Milton along the river. Her father plotted the original town of Milton there. At the age of 15 she was married to Samuel Kester Coe, who had come to the district shortly after the Fraziers. They had 12 children, of whom seven survive.
They are Mrs. C. H. Harris, Pendleton, Mrs. W. R. Craig, Portland, Arthur, Elmo and Harold Frazier all of Milton, Ernest Frazier of Portland, and Frank Frazier of Pendleton. She is also survived by a brother, William H. Frazier of Milton, 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In 1875 Mrs. Coe joined the newly-established Methodist church in Milton, an she was also a member of the G.A. R. ladies. She was chosen as queen-mother of the fiftieth anniversary meeting of the Umatilla County Pioneer association in 1942.

Five Generations
As these lines are written, Susan Frazier Coe lies gravely ill at her home in Milton. Since this page a few weeks ago noted that Mrs. Coe had reached the nineties bracket in her life, further distinction has come to her. Since Susan K. Anderson was born in Surf, Calif., a few days ago, Mrs. Coe has become a great-great-grandmother though now too ill to properly appreciate the distinction.

Milton-Freewater, Ore – Samuel Ernest Coe, 71, died in a Walla Walla hospital Tueday after an extended illness. Formerly of Milton-Freewater, he had been living in Eagle Creek, Ore., for the past few years.
Coe was born in Milton, June 22, 1880. He was a farmer.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs Norma Triplett of Eagle Creek; two sisters, Mrs Lina Craig of Portland and Mrs Mary Harris of Pendleton; and four brothers, Arthur, Elmo and Harold of Milton-Freewater, and Frank of Joseph Ore. Funeral services are planned for Thursday at 2 P.M.

Former Milton-Freewater resident, Lina Coe Craig, 101, of Mission Road, Pendleton, died Monday, Sept. 3, 1984, at Delamarter Nursing Home in Pendleton.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 6 at 2:30 pm at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Frisbie of Wesley Untied Methodist Church officiating. Concluding services and burial will be in the M-F Cemetery.
Mrs. Craig was born Sep. 15, 1882 in M-F to Samuel and Susan Frazier Coe.
She attended schools in this area including Columbia College. She worked for the Mosgrove Merchantile for 10 years.
In 1911, she was married to William Roland Craig on Couse Creek, near Milton-Freewater. After their marriage, they moved to Ellensberg, WA, where they owned and operated a book and stationery store for 15 years.
They then moved to Seattle, WA for two years and back to M-F for three years. The moved to the Corvallis and Portland area in the 1940's where they owned and operated hotels.
Mr. Craig preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1949. She returned to M-F in 1956 and lived here 20 years prior to moving to Pendleton to be near her daughter. She lived in Camlu and Village Apartments before she moved into the nursing home.
She was a member of the Wesley Untied Methodist Church of M-F.
Mrs. Craig is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret) de Romanett of Pendleton; a son, Roland Eston Craig of Canoga Park, CA; a brother, Elmo Coe of M-F; a sister, Mary B. Harris of Pendleton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In 1911, she was married to William Roland Craig on Couse Creek, near Milton-Freewater. After their marriage, they moved to Ellensberg, WA, where they owned and operated a book and stationery store for 15 years.
They then moved to Seattle, WA for two years and back to M-F for three years. The moved to the Corvallis and Portland area in the 1940's where they owned and operated hotels.
Mr. Craig preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1949. She returned to M-F in 1956 and lived here 20 years prior to moving to Pendleton to be near her daughter. She lived in Camlu and Village Apartments before she moved into the nursing home.
She was a member of the Wesley Untied Methodist Church of M-F.
Mrs. Craig is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret) de Romanett of Pendleton; a son, Roland Eston Craig of Canoga Park, CA; a brother, Elmo Coe of M-F; a sister, Mary B. Harris of Pendleton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

OBIT - Truth Coe
Martha "Truth" Coe of 512 Pierce died Jan, 30, at Life Care Center in Richland: she was 90.
One of 10 children, Coe was born Dec. 25, 1901, to Alvin and Martha Potter Ebbert in Walla Walla, WA. She attended Walla Walla schools and worked as a beautician after finishing school. Coe also worked at the Baker Langdon packing houses.
She married Elmo Coe June 17, 1925 in Walla Walla.
In the 1930's the couple moved to Milton-Freewater.
Coe and her husband opened Coe Electric in 1938 where she took care of the books. The couple retired in 1965 and enjoyed traveling during the following years. She also enjoyed working in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died March 24, 1990.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Harold Ransom of Richland, WA; two sons, Dick and Ned Coe, both of Milton-Freewater; one sister, Violet Wakeman of Klamath Falls; one daughter-in-law, Betty Coe of Milton-Freewater; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday Feb. 4, at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home with pastor Steve Knox officiating. Concluding service and vault internment followed in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.

Mr. Coe was born on Couse Creek June 6, 1900, the son of Samuel K. and Susan Frazier Coe, who were early pioneers of Milton-Freewater. On Sept. 9, 1921 he married Ora Ann Wilson in Pendleton. He worked a short time for Milton Sash and Box Co., and later moved to the Coe farm where they lived and farmed for 22 years. After moving to a home on S. Main Street, Mr. Coe continued to farm and formed a partnership with his children called Harold Coe and Son Co. He and his wife have resided at their present home the past 13 years.
Mr. Coe was a member of BPOE Lodge No.287, Walla Walla, the Flood Control District Farm Bureau, Eastern Wheat League; served as chairman of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation for three years; member Oregon Cattlemen's Association; past member of M-F Rotary Club; active in the affairs of the Junior Livestock Show. He was director of the M-F Pea Festival 13 terms. He was recipient of the Senior Agriculture award January 1972 and Mrs. Coe was named Woman of the Year in 1970.
Survivors are his wife, Ora Ann, at the home; sons, Don, M-F, Leland, Elk Grove, DA; daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy) Sada, Clarkston, WA; Mrs. Gordon (Henriette) Quinn, Joseph; sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Mary) Harris, Pendleton, Mrs. Will (Lina) Craig, Pendleton; brother Elmo Coe, M-F, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery under the direction of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Providence Child Center, Portland.

HAROLD COE'S CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY.
Mr. and Mrs Harold Coe were honorees at a wedding reception in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, Sept. 5, in the social rooms of the Grace Prebyterian Church in Milton-Freewater. About 250 friends and relatives attended.
The reception was hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs Gilber Sada, Clarkston, WA, Mr. and Mrs Don Coe of Milton-Freewater, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Quinn, Joseph, and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA.
Orah Wilson and Harold Coe were united in marriage in Pendleton at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Thim, at a 4 o'clock afternoon ceremony, Sept. 9, 1921. The Rev. W.A. Gressman, of the Christian Church in Pendleton officiated.
Coe was employed by the Milton Sash and Door and Box Company in Milton where they took up housekeeping. Their first child, daughter Dorothy, was born in Glenwood, WA while they camped there one summer in a tent. The Coe Family returned to Milton in October, moving to the Coe ranch family home, where Harold was born and raised, on Couse Creek in November. They lived there for 22 years, where Donald, Henrietta and Leland were born.

The enterprising and progressive young man whose career we must now attempt to present in brief outline is achieving a success on material things of which he has every reason to be proud. Born in the Evergreen state just north of us, (WA) he has spent his entire life thus far in the west and learned well the art of turning to his own advantage the conditions obtaining here.
Mr. Saling is a son of the well-known pioneers, Edmund S. and Artemisia W. (French) Saling, natives respectively of Missouri and Indiana. The father came to Yam Hill county in 1852, thence to Walla Walla county, Washington, in 1864, where he met and married our subject's mother, and where our subject was born, June 8, 1870. There Mrs. Saling resided until fourteen years of age, acquiring such education as was to be had in the local public shcool. In 1885 he came to the then newly organized county of Morrow, accompanying his parents to Sand Hollw, where he has ever since lived. After his father's death, which occurred on March 31, 1894, he and his brother, Clyde, took charge of the place and from that time until the spring of the present year (1901) they followed farming and cattle raising, but they have now disposed of their cattle and invested in a herd of twelve hundred sheep. They have eighteen hundred acres of land in their home place and two hundred and forty acres of timber in the mountains.
Fraternally Mr. Saling is affiliated with Heppner Lodge, No. 69. F. & M. He was married on March 14, 1900, to Miss Eva E. Bartholomew, daughter of Judge A.G. and Mary (Coe) Bartholomew, of Heppner, Oregon, and they have one child, M. A. Ruth, born February 7, 1901. Mrs. Saling is a member of the Methodist Eiscopal church, South.

LOMA LINDA, CALIF. - Former area resident Dr. John de Ronamett, 87, died July 19, 2005 at home.
The graveside service will be 2 pm Friday at Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Arrangements are through Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, M-F.
Mr. de Romanett was born April 26, 1918, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Sophie and Marcel de Romanett. He grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He met future wife Margaret while attending Walla Walla College. The married in summer 1939 and a year later he graduated with a history degree from WWC.
He graduated from Loma Linda (Calif.) School of Medicine in the Class of 1944-B. He interned at Jackson, Mich., co-managing a hospital with another person.
His residency in Johnston, PA, was interrupted by active military duty in Japan. He was discharged a captain.
He had a family practice in Pendleton. They built their home and an office building there. He was chief of staff at a local hospital.
He was general contractor with his wife on their building projects In 1958 they constructed a 42-bed nursing home next to their home and ran it together.
They were active at Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church and the school. He was often head elder.
He moonlighted at various emergency rooms, including Loma Linda Community Hospital and was a physician with the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
He retired at 79 and started a missionary project building Christian radio stations with his wife and daughter, Linda.
He enjoyed playing tennis, motor boating and sailing, alpine skiing, their cabin on Wallowa Lake and travel in Europe. He was a peacemaker, kind and thoughful toward others. His number one focus was on his family.
Survivors include his wife and daughter of Texas.

In the late 1930's, Coe returned to M-F where he went to work in a family business; the Valley Seed Co. He was married Nov. 10, 1940 to Corleen Overby, who survives him at home.
During WWII, Coe served in the Navy as a radarman. He was a member of the M-F city council, and was instrumental in the drive to consolidate the two towns.
Other concerns included the Save the Walla Walla River Watershed organization. In the 1960's he opened his own business for freezer housing in the food industry. It is called W.D. Coe Urethane Systems. Co.
Coe was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, the American Legion Post 24 and Elks Lodge 287 in Walla Walla.
He is survived by his wife, Corleen; two daughters, Claudia Hughes of Portland; a brother, James of Walla Walla; a sister, Anna Marie Yantis of M-F, and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Church or to a charity of the donor's choice through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. Last respects at the funeral home may be paid until Monday at 1 pm.

MILTON-FREEWATER - Nuptial rites at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Federated church united in marriage Miss Anna Marie Coe, daughter of Arthur Coe of Milton and John L. Yantis Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Yantis of Freewater, with the Rev. Norman Rice officiating.
Mrs. Donald Clements, organist, Miss Carol Knight sang, of Olympia, sorority sister of the bride, Candlelighters Mrs. George McRae and Mrs. Leon Williams, Mrs. JoAnn Domschot, matron of homor, Miss Marion Quackenbush of Spokane, sorority sister.
Mrs. Richare Gullixson of Salem, Miss Mary Jane Yates and Mrs. Ray Johnson, were bridesmaids.
Richard Yantis was best man for his brother and ushers were Frank Davis, Reese Lamb, J.T. Monahan and Bill Coe. Flower girl was Claudia Coe and ring bearer Billie Carmichael, train bearers were Sally Frahm and Patrich McRae.
A reception followed in the church parlors with Mrs. Clyde Harris, Mrs. George Cockburn, Mrs. Chester Frazier and Mrs. O.E. Bowman assisting as hostesses. Mrs. Dave Graham had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Gil Sada and Mrs. James Coe, the gifts. Serving were Mrs. Richard Coe, Miss Carolyn Nelson of Spokane, Miss Ruth Mazanti of Olympia, Mrs. Gordon Quinn, Miss Doris Burlingame, Mrs. George McRae and Mrs. Leon Willams.

The couple left later for a honemoon in Canada and upon their return they will make their home in Milton.

RICHARD COE of 512 Pierce St. died March 3 at Elzora Manor Nursing Home; he was 65.
Coe was born to Elmo and Truth Ebbert Coe in Milton-Freewater on Dec. 27, 1926. He attended local schools and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School in 1944.
While attending high school, he played basketball. He then attended Oregon State University where he made the varsity basketball team as a freshman. He returned to Milton-Freewater where he worked with his father for a time at Coe Electric. He then dealt cards in Reno and Las Vegas and returned to the Milton-Freewater area where he continued to deal cards.
He enjoyed fly fishing and hunting.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Vicki Anne Coe of San Francisco, CA; MariAnn Gest and DiAnn Blair, both of Salem; a son, Rich Coe of Portland; a brother, Ned Coe of Milton-Freewater; a sister Carol Ransom of Richland, WA; and 3 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held March 7 at Milton-Freewater Cemetery with Rev. Steve Knox of the Milton-Freewater First Christian Church officiating.

Pioneer Name to Live On
The name of a Milton-Freewater will live on for at least another generation with the birth of a baby girl.
Karl and Pamela Feigner gave birth to a healthy baby girl near the end of February and to carry on a family name, in full, the girl was named Rachel Jewell Feigner.
The new member of the family was named after Rachel Feigner, who is now deceased, who was an early pioneer of the Milton-Freewater area. The elder Feigner was the child's great-grandmother.
"They named their girl after Rachel so her name would carry on, " Said Alline Greeley of Milton-Freewater, the child's grandmother.
The baby's middle name, Jewell, is the same as Greeley's.
Rosealie Koon and Betty Coe of Milton-Freewater and Irene Blehm of Walla Walla are great-aunts.
Rachel was the first girl for the Feigners who have three sons, Jeremie, Nicholas and Justin. The baby's father is the son of former residents Freddie and Gessilla Feigner who now reside in Beaverton.

Dorothy M. Sada, 72, of 904 Diagnol, Clarkston, died Dec. 18, 1995 at the Woodland Park Hospital in Portland.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec 21 with Pastor Dick Davidson officiating. Concluding services and interment were held in the IOOF Cemetery.

Mrs. Sada was born August 8, 1923 in a logging camp in Klickitat County Klickitat, WA. She grew up and attended schools in Milton-Freewater.
On June 7, 1945 sne married Gilber Sada in Walla Walla. She was a bookkeeper for many years with area businesses. She was active in the Pea Festival helping to build many parade floats.
In 1967 they moved to Clarkston, WA. While here she worked the farm accounts for Smith Frozen Foods during the summers. Mrs Sada was a beautiful seamstress, loved working crossword puzzles, and working in her yard.
She was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #24 and a life time member of the Ladies Elks #2146, both of Milton-Freewater. She was the rock that kept the family going and if you wanted to know something, just call and ask Dorothy or Auntie Dorothy.
Mrs. Sada is survived by her husband, at the home; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Ann and Bill Murphy of Beaverton, OR; two brothers, Don Coe of Richland, OR and Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Henrietta Gavin of Enterprise, OR; one grandchild, Rachel Lawrence of Beaverton, OR; and one great-grandchild, Naevey Coney of Beaverton, OR.

MILTON-FREEWATER - Donald H. "Don" Coe, 80, of 910 Cowl St, #6, died Jan, 22, 2006, at Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medica Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm Sunday at Munselle-Rhodes Home, 902 S. Main St, M-F, 97862. The funeral will be there at 1pm Monday with the Rev. Duane Geyer of First Christian Church officiating. Private burial will be in Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to McLoughlin High School Future Farmers of America through the funeral home.
Mr. Coe was born April 24, 1925, in Milton to Harold and Ora Wilson Coe. He grew up in Milton-Freewater and graduated from Mac-Hi, where he was a charter member and president from 1941-1943 of the school's FFA chapter.
He served on the Beef Feeding Trials steering committee for Oregon State College. He joined the U.S. Navy on March 28, 1944, served during WWII and was discharged Jan 21, 1946.
He was engaged in the cattle business from 1950 to 1995. In 1957, he received the M-F Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year and Oregon State Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer 3rd-place award. A salesmann for many years, he sold agra-chemical products and cattle supplement feed.
On Jan 22, 1969 he and Valda B. Knopf wed in Kennewick. They owned and operated the Horseshoe Club in Milton-Freewater and later the Pastime Bar and Cafe from 1996 until retirement.
He was a charter memeber of Pioneer Posse and the M-F Lions Club and served as its zone chairman. He was a member of American Legion Post 24, from 1958-1978, then he transferred to the M-F Elks Lodge 2146. He was a past member of the Umatilla Cattlemen's Association, where he served on the steering committee.
Survivors include his wife, at home; two daughter, Sharon Angelo of Corbett, OR aand Susan Coon of Portland; two sons, Tim Coe of Fossil, OR and Tom Coe of Sunnyside, WA; stepdaughter Diane Gregory of Ketchikan, Alaska; stepson Lanny Knopf of Milton-Freewater; brother Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA; sister Henrietta Gavin of Pendleton; lifelong friend Al Herdon of M-F; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life and a dinner will be at 6:30 pm, Friday at Colwood Golf Course, 7913 N.E. Columbia Blvd, Portland.
Mrs. Winters was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Nezperce, Idaho, to Victor and Edith Mizer. She received her education in Milton-Freewater.
She married high school sweetheart Donald Coe on Nov. 23, 1943. They lived on the Coe Ranch in Milton-Freewater until he lost his eyesight from a horse accident. She cooked three meals a day for many hired men on their ranch.
She loved cooking, baking and sewing her family's clothing, including western shirts for her husband, who rodeoed in his spare time. The Coe's divorced in 1966.
On Feb. 7, 1970, she married Arthur Winters. She worked for Terminal Flour Mills and later was lounge and banquet manager for the Colwood Golf Course from 1970 to 1984. The couple moved to Zillah, WA in 1984 to raise apples and grapes. While there she loved entertaining friends and family in a bed and breakfast-style.
She loved a good time and gambling. She and her husband also loved golf, going on cruises and trips to Reno with friends. They were members of Mount Adams Country Club and the Eagles lodge in Toppenish. They moved to Corbett after Mr. Winters had a stroke. He died in 2002.
She then wintered in Tucson, Arizona, at the home of daughter Sharon Angelo, who survives there. Survivors also include daughter Sue Coon; two sons, Tim Coe, and Tom Coe and friend Stella Tyler; four stepdaughters, Darla Prince, Donna Fields, Debi Kysor and Diane Fell; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.

Former Milton-Freewater resident Metha Thomason Reese Yantis, 91, of Wheatland Village, 1500 Catherine St., died Sept. 3, 2008, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center after a brief illness.
Visitation will be 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm Sunday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St. Milton-Freewater, OR 79862. The funeral will be 1 pm Monday at First Christian Church, 518 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater. The Rev. Paul Pankey will officiate. Burial will follow in Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frazier Farmsdtead Museum or Chapter AP PEO Program for Continuing Education through the funeral home.
Mrs. Yantis was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Milton, OR to Albert and Lula Clark Thomason. She graduated from McLoughlin Union High School.
She married Sidney Reese in 1939. The couple moved around Oregon and Washington following Mr. Reese's employment in the food industry, until settling into their retirement home in Beaverton, OR.
Following the death of Mr. Reese, she married John Yantis on Sept 17, 1987, in Portland. Mr. Yantis died Aug. 1, 2005.
She enjoyed gardening, golf, bridge, dancing and traveling with Mr. Yantis. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Milton-Freewater, Chapter AP PEO and the Walla Walla Country Club. She was a gourmet cook and superb hostess.
Mrs. Yantis is survived by a daughter, Sydna Pankey of Wenatchee, WA; a son, Robert Reese of Sun City West, AZ; two stepdaughters, Linda Zerba of Athena and Leslie Brown of Milton-Freewater; two sisters, Fern Tompkins of College Place and Iris Dyer of Tigard, OR; three grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dee Thomas; and a stepson, Jack Yantis.
