Mrs Hattie Wilson of M-F Dies at 68
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. -- Mrs. Hattie W. Wilson of Winesap Road, Milton-Freewater, died Saturday morning in a Walla Walla hospital after an extended illness. She was 68.
Mrs. Wilson was born Dec. 2, 1887, and had lived in the Milton-Freewater district since 1918. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband Jack Wilson of the home address; one son, Marion A. Wilson of Milton-Freewater; one sister Mrs. Eleanor Nelson of Walla Walla; two brothers, Oscar and Ruben Walinder, both of Overland Kans., and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Seventh day Adventist Church here. Interment will be in the Milton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Wilson Funeral Is Held at M-F
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. -- The Seventh-day Adventist Church was filled Monday afternoon with friends for the funeral of Hattie Wilson, wife of Jack Wilson who died Friday in a Walla Walla hospital. Pallbearers were Everett Miller, Harold Steen, Cecil Brody, Hy Grogan, Carl Hubbs and Burton Bliss with Elder Melvin Oss officiating. Messrs. Henry Grogan, Earl Ayers and Burton Bliss sang accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Harold Steen.

OBIT - 1974 - HAROLD B. COE
Funeral services were held Monday Dec 9, in the First Christian Church for Harold B. Coe, 74, of 827 College Ave., prominent wheat farmer and cattle rancher who died at his home Friday, December 6, Rev.Volus McEachern, Grace Presbyterian.Church officiated.
Honorary pall bearers were Theodore Kassemeyer, Dr. Duane Hedin, Jesse Edwards, Hadley Akins, Al Herndon, Kirk Casper, Glen Payne, Veryl Winn, Herchel Fullerton, Russel Blacker, Harold Harder, Leigh Price, Roy Daggett, Eber Howard, Bob Howard and Bick Snow. Active pall bearers were Arnold Coe, Bill Coe, Tim Coe, Jim Coe Ned Coe and Tom Coe.
Sacred selections by C.W. Wrinkle were "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden". Mrs. Fred Etling was organist.
Mr. Coe was born on Couse Creek June 6, 1900, the son of Samuel K. and Susan Frazier Coe, who were early pioneers of Milton-Freewater. On Sept. 9, 1921 he married Ora Ann Wilson in Pendleton. He worked a short time for Milton Sash and Box Co., and later moved to the Coe farm where they lived and farmed for 22 years. After moving to a home on S. Main Street, Mr. Coe continued to farm and formed a partnership with his children called Harold Coe and Son Co. He and his wife have resided at their present home the past 13 years.
Mr. Coe was a member of BPOE Lodge No.287, Walla Walla, the Flood Control District Farm Bureau, Eastern Wheat League; served as chairman of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation for three years; member Oregon Cattlemen's Association; past member of M-F Rotary Club; active in the affairs of the Junior Livestock Show. He was director of the M-F Pea Festival 13 terms. He was recipient of the Senior Agriculture award January 1972 and Mrs. Coe was named Woman of the Year in 1970.
Survivors are his wife, Ora Ann, at the home; sons, Don, M-F, Leland, Elk Grove, DA; daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy) Sada, Clarkston, WA; Mrs. Gordon (Henriette) Quinn, Joseph; sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Mary) Harris, Pendleton, Mrs. Will (Lina) Craig, Pendleton; brother Elmo Coe, M-F, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery under the direction of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Providence Child Center, Portland.

HAROLD COE'S CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY.
Mr. and Mrs Harold Coe were honorees at a wedding reception in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, Sept. 5, in the social rooms of the Grace Prebyterian Church in Milton-Freewater. About 250 friends and relatives attended.
The reception was hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs Gilber Sada, Clarkston, WA, Mr. and Mrs Don Coe of Milton-Freewater, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Quinn, Joseph, and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA.
Orah Wilson and Harold Coe were united in marriage in Pendleton at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Thim, at a 4 o'clock afternoon ceremony, Sept. 9, 1921. The Rev. W.A. Gressman, of the Christian Church in Pendleton officiated.
Coe was employed by the Milton Sash and Door and Box Company in Milton where they took up housekeeping. Their first child, daughter Dorothy, was born in Glenwood, WA while they camped there one summer in a tent. The Coe Family returned to Milton in October, moving to the Coe ranch family home, where Harold was born and raised, on Couse Creek in November. They lived there for 22 years, where Donald, Henrietta and Leland were born.

Dorothy M. Sada, 72, of 904 Diagnol, Clarkston, died Dec. 18, 1995 at the Woodland Park Hospital in Portland.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec 21 with Pastor Dick Davidson officiating. Concluding services and interment were held in the IOOF Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frazier Farmstead Museum through the Munsell-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Maint St., M-F, OR.
Mrs. Sada was born August 8, 1923 in a logging camp in Klickitat County Klickitat, WA. She grew up and attended schools in Milton-Freewater.
On June 7, 1945 sne married Gilber Sada in Walla Walla. She was a bookkeeper for many years with area businesses. She was active in the Pea Festival helping to build many parade floats.
In 1967 they moved to Clarkston, WA. While here she worked the farm accounts for Smith Frozen Foods during the summers. Mrs Sada was a beautiful seamstress, loved working crossword puzzles, and working in her yard.
She was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #24 and a life time member of the Ladies Elks #2146, both of Milton-Freewater. She was the rock that kept the family going and if you wanted to know something, just call and ask Dorothy or Auntie Dorothy.
Mrs. Sada is survived by her husband, at the home; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Ann and Bill Murphy of Beaverton, OR; two brothers, Don Coe of Richland, OR and Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Henrietta Gavin of Enterprise, OR; one grandchild, Rachel Lawrence of Beaverton, OR; and one great-grandchild, Naevey Coney of Beaverton, OR.

DON COE
MILTON-FREEWATER - Donald H. "Don" Coe, 80, of 910 Cowl St, #6, died Jan, 22, 2006, at Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medica Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm Sunday at Munselle-Rhodes Home, 902 S. Main St, M-F, 97862. The funeral will be there at 1pm Monday with the Rev. Duane Geyer of First Christian Church officiating. Private burial will be in Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to McLoughlin High School Future Farmers of America through the funeral home.
Mr. Coe was born April 24, 1925, in Milton to Harold and Ora Wilson Coe. He grew up in Milton-Freewater and graduated from Mac-Hi, where he was a charter member and president from 1941-1943 of the school's FFA chapter.
He served on the Beef Feeding Trials steering committee for Oregon State College. He joined the U.S. Navy on March 28, 1944, served during WWII and was discharged Jan 21, 1946.
He was engaged in the cattle business from 1950 to 1995. In 1957, he received the M-F Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year and Oregon State Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer 3rd-place award. A salesmann for many years, he sold agra-chemical products and cattle supplement feed.
On Jan 22, 1969 he and Valda B. Knopf wed in Kennewick. They owned and operated the Horseshoe Club in Milton-Freewater and later the Pastime Bar and Cafe from 1996 until retirement.
He was a charter member of Pioneer Posse and the M-F Lions Club and served as its zone chairman. He was a member of American Legion Post 24, from 1958-1978, then he transferred to the M-F Elks Lodge 2146. He was a past member of the Umatilla Cattlemen's Association, where he served on the steering committee.
Survivors include his wife, at home; two daughter, Sharon Angelo of Corbett, OR aand Susan Coon of Portland; two sons, Tim Coe of Fossil, OR and Tom Coe of Sunnyside, WA; stepdaughter Diane Gregory of Ketchikan, Alaska; stepson Lanny Knopf of Milton-Freewater; brother Leland Coe of Sacramento, CA; sister Henrietta Gavin of Pendleton; lifelong friend Al Herdon of M-F; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Darlene Mizer Winters

CORBETT, OR - Former Milton-Freewater resident Darlene E. Winters, 80, died of cancer June 28, 2006, at home.
A celebration of life and a dinner will be at 6:30 pm, Friday at Colwood Golf Course, 7913 N.E. Columbia Blvd, Portland.
Mrs. Winters was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Nezperce, Idaho, to Victor and Edith Mizer. She received her education in Milton-Freewater.
She married high school sweetheart Donald Coe on Nov. 23, 1943. They lived on the Coe Ranch in Milton-Freewater until he lost his eyesight from a horse accident. She cooked three meals a day for many hired men on their ranch.
She loved cooking, baking and sewing her family's clothing, including western shirts for her husband, who rodeoed in his spare time. The Coe's divorced in 1966.
On Feb. 7, 1970, she married Arthur Winters. She worked for Terminal Flour Mills and later was lounge and banquet manager for the Colwood Golf Course from 1970 to 1984. The couple moved to Zillah, WA in 1984 to raise apples and grapes. While there she loved entertaining friends and family in a bed and breakfast-style.
She loved a good time and gambling. She and her husband also loved golf, going on cruises and trips to Reno with friends. They were members of Mount Adams Country Club and the Eagles lodge in Toppenish. They moved to Corbett after Mr. Winters had a stroke. He died in 2002.
She then wintered in Tucson, Arizona, at the home of daughter Sharon Angelo, who survives there. Survivors also include daughter Sue Coon; two sons, Tim Coe, and Tom Coe and friend Stella Tyler; four stepdaughters, Darla Prince, Donna Fields, Debi Kysor and Diane Fell; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.
