NN E.A.3 BUNCH (JAMES C.2, CHARLES1) was born 24 Sep 1849 in MO, and died 10 Oct 1910 in Gaston, OR. She married (1) ALBERT G. TILLMAN 29 May 1870 in Newton County MO8,9. She married (2) CHARLES M. WATKINS 1885 in Coquille, OR.Notes for A
NN E.A. BUNCH:Obituary Southern Coos County American, Oct. 30. 1919
Mrs. A. E. Watkins Ends Adventurous Life
Mrs. A. E. Watkins died at Gaston, Oregon, Oct. 9, 1919. Mrs. Watkinsmoved to Gaston to be near her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Mereen. She was taken ill at Fruitland, Wn. on a visit with the Mereens to the Magarys, relatives of Mr. Mereen. Survivors are: Mrs. A. E. Mereen and Miss Elsie Tillman, daughters; W. H. Bunch, C. H. Bunch, brothers; and Mrs. J. M. Bright and Mrs. Chas. Holt, sisters of the deceased, Mrs. R. W. Airey of Caldwell, Ida. is also a sister. Interment was in Buxton cemetery at Forest Grove, Oregon.
Mrs. Watkins was the eldest child of James C. and Mary A. B. Bunch, pioneer residents of this county. She was born in Missouri Sept. 26, 1849. Several of her girlhood years were spent in Kansas due to her parents change of residence to that state. On later return of the family to Missouri, she met and married Albert G. Tillman in Seneca. In 1871, Mrs.Tillman with her husband accompanied her parents to the Pacific coast.
The family had California as their destination but dissatisfaction with the state led them to Oregon. During a brief stay at Eugene, their first child, Nora was born. As soon as mother and child were able to travel, the entire Bunch family changed their abode at Eugene for canvas - wagons and journeyed over the old Military road to Milton, Oregon. The trip was undertaken during the fall and the first night's camp at Milton was attended by a light fall of snow. A permanent settlement was shortly made 6 miles above Milton on the Walla Walla River. Here little Nora Tillmandied and 2 other daughters, Sophia and Elsie were born. Here, too, Mr.Tillman contracted tuberculosis and died. He was buried below Milton onthe Walla Walla River.
Mrs. Tillman and her baby girls were still in this region when the Nez Perce and Bannock Indian wars broke out. While no raid occurred in the actual vicinity of the Bunch and Tillman homes, there were massacres and pillaging sufficiently near to frighten all but a few settlers out of the valley to Fort Walla Walla.
In the summer of 1879 the entire Bunch family moved down the MacKenzie and thence over the Coos Bay wagon road to this county, taking up their residence near Coquille. In 1885 Mrs. Tillman was married to Charles M.Watkins. She was left a widow by the death of Mr. Watkins at Norway in the fall of 1896. Since then she has made her home at various times at Gravel Ford, Myrtle Point and Coquille. She leaves many relatives.
It was while living in Seneca after their marriage that they accepted the Seventh Day Adventist faith.

Obituary - Ann E. Bunch North Pacific Union Gleaner Nov 06, 1919
WATKINS Ann Elizabeth Bunch was born in Missouri, September 24. 1849, and died near Gaston, Oregon, October 10, 1910, in her seventy-first year. More than forty years ago the Bunch family moved west and became affiliated with the S. D. A. church at Milton, Oregon; but a little later located permanently in Coos county, Western Oregon. Sister Watkins leaves to mourn two daughters and a son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mereen and Miss Elsie Tilman; two grandchildren, Wallace and Marjorie Mereen, and the following brothers and sisters: W. H. and Charles Bunch, and Mrs. M. B. Bennett of Coos county, Mrs. Alice Holt and Mrs. May Bright of Laurelwood, Elder F. S. Bunch of Walla Walla College, and Mrs. Hattie Airey of Caldwell, Idaho, nearly all of whom were present at the funeral which was conducted from the church at Laurelwood Academy, interment being made at Forest Grove. Sister Watkins lived a quiet, Christian life, always unsparing in her efforts to help those in need, and died in bright hope of a part in the resurrection of the just when the Life-giver comes.
