The Jon Cockburn barn is located about 2 miles west of Milton-Freewater on the Cemetery Road.  Built in 1923 the classic barn design and imposing size invites a close inspection.  The barn was built for $8,000 by Bill Carter, the son of Johnny Carter who owned the farm.  The barn provided housing for 32 mules and hay storage above in the loft.  The barn was used for only 4 years by mules, then tractors became the power.  Now it is used primarily for storage. Visitors are welcome.
