Isaac Wren, who had been livng with his son, James, in Steuben county, Indiana, was brougt to Sturgis, for burial, Monday. Mr. Wren was for many years a resident of this city, but went to live with his son after the death of his wife a few years ago. He was quite aged and was among the early settlers of this place. He had been in poor health for some time. Isaac Wren was born in Keswick, Cumberland County, England, Aug.1, 1815. He came to America in 1836, settling in Sturgis, where continued to reside up to the time stated. For 50 years he had been a member of the Baptist church and died full in the faith. He was buried in Oaklawn cemetery, Jan.2, Rev. Smallidge officating.

MARTHA ELIZABETH (RIGBY) RICE, 23 Feb 1839 - 23 Apr 1901
DIED at her home in Sturgis, Mich., April 23, 1901, Elizabeth
Rice, aged 62 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Martha Elizabeth Rigby was born in Richland county, Ohio, Feb.
23, 1839, and while yet a child came with her parents to Salem
township, Steuben county, Indiana, where she spent the greater part
of her life, moving to Sturgis only a few years ago. She was united
in marriage December 2, 1857, to Asa B. Rice and to this union were
born seven children, five of whom, N. I., James, Rosalvo and Ella
Rice, of Sturgis and Mrs. Amy Glasgow, of Helmer still survive. Her
remains were laid to rest in the cemetery beside those of her
husband who died in 1896. Soon after her removal to Sturgis she
became blind and her health, never the best, gave way, but she bore
her afflictions with remarkable patience. She will long be
remembered by Steuben county people as a kind neighbor and friend.

Mrs. Naught was visiting a daughter in Fruitland, Idaho and Mrs. Copsey a daughter in Camas, Wash., when they heard of the impending arrival of the Smiths for the weekend and both came home especially for the five-generation gathering.

Florence Hodgen Naught, 92, of 201 N. Washington, Weston, Ore. died at Walla Walla General Hospital yesterday.
She was born Nov 19, 1881, in Walla Walla. Her parents were among the first pioneers of the area in 1863.
Mrs. Naught was a member of Federated Church of Milton-Freewater.
Survivors include her daughters, Mr.s George (Rita) Copsey of Walla Walla, Mrs. Floyd (Anona) Brown of Coos Bay, Ore., Mrs. Carl (Frankie) Reneken of Weston, Ore. and Mrs. Phil (Corlene) Borup of Boise, Idaho: her sons. John Hodgen of Adams, Ore. and Richard Hodgen of Eagle Point, Ore.; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Mrs. W.L. Joynes
A former Walla Walla resident, Mrs. W.L> (Dencie Rice) Joynes, 82, of The Dalles, died there Sunday.
Born April 27, 1889, in Walla Walla, she had lived in Spray, Ore., 14 years before moving to The Dalles 18 years ago. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of The Dalles, was a past matron of Sunnyside Chapter 128 Order of Eastern Star of Porltand, Gaspar Shrine No. 3 White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Oregon Trail Court No. 3 Order of Amaranth and Chenowith Grange. Mrs. Joynes was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Walla Walla.
She is survived by her husband, W. Lee, at the home; a son, Merle L. of Hermiston; a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Laurel of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Elbert Rice of Pasco and Raymond Rice of Kennewick; a sister, Mrs. Willeta Tignor of Novato, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in The Dalles, Interment will follow at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery

William Moore Former Resident Dies Suddenly
William D. "Bill" Moore, manager of the Sprague Cash Grocery and Market
and manager of the Ritzville Safeway store until he resigned a few years ago
to open his own store in Sprague, died of a heart attack Tuesday evening at his
home in Sprague.
He had been in normal health until stricken by a heart attack Tuesday
afternoon at the store. He was taken to his home and appeared to be recovering
satisfactorily until he was stricken with a second and fatal attack about 11
p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services have not been scheduled because the family is waiting
to learn if his two sons, both servicemen, can be present.
William Dwight Moore was born June 10, 1894, at Kendrick, Ida., and
was educated at schools in Kendrick, Walla Walla and Umapine, Ore. He had been
in the grocery business for the greater part of his life, except for a few
years which he devoted to stock raising in the Horse Heaven country and in
Idaho. He had been a store manager for Safeway for a number of years before
going into business in Sprague two years ago.
He was married June 30,1915, in Walla Walla to Willieta Rice. He was
a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Ritzville, president of the Lions club
of Sprague and chairman of the executive board of the Sprague Boy Scouts.
Mr. Moore was active in the Lions club and in Boy Scouts work when he lived
in Ritzville.
Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Dee
Essex at home; two sons, Capt. Robert Bruce Moore, stationed at Ft. Belvoir,
Va.; Pvt. William R. Moore, member of the military police stationed at San
Antonio, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. E. Moore, and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Goodman,
both of Walla Walla, and five grandchildren.

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Elbert (Myrn) Rice of 1524 N. Arthur St., Pasco, formerly of WallaWalla. A short illness preceded her death at age 60.
Mrs. Rice ws born and raised in Walla Walla and attended schools here.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bruce Lee Memorial chapel in Pasco with interment to follow in that community.
Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband, Elbert, at the home; two sons, Jonathan Rice of Pasco and Harvey Rice of Colfax, Wash.; a sister, Mrs Thomas Bleakney of Aberdeen, Wash.; a brother, Chester Harvey of Walla Walla; two grandchildren and a nephew.

H.R. Turner, Pioneer Scion, Is Stricken
Howard Rees Turner descendant of pioneer Walla Walla familes, died Friday in a hospital here at the age of 54.
Turner was in the consumer credit department at the Walla Walla Valley branch of the Seattle-First National Bank.
The son of Harry Hudson Turner and the former Elma Rees Howard Turner was born June 5, 1897. His father, who died in 1922, was a vice president of the Baker-Boyer National bank and his mother, born in Walla Walla as was her husband, was the daughter of Maj. R.R. Rees, founder of Walla Walla's first newspaper. Her grandparents were Mr and Mrs Michael V Ward, early-day landowners. She died in 1939.
Howard Turner received his early education in Walla Walla and was graduated from the University of Washington, where he affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity. He was well-known as a swimmer as a youth, and after his college education was completed he went to work for the Farmers and Merchants bank before being connected withthe Union Bank and Trust Co, and eventually the Seattle-First.
His memberships included St Paul's Episcopal church, the Walla Walla Country club and Walter C Lee Post 32, American Legion.
Survivors are his wife Imogene turner at the family home, 127 Whitman, two daughters Miss Nancy Jane Turner of Aberdeen and Mrs. William (Jeanne) Smith of Thomaston Me and a granddaughter Pamela Jeanne Smith of Thomaston.

Dallas Hodgen
Retired farmer Dallas Hodgen of Walla Walla died Saturday in a local hospital. He was 64.
The funeral will be in the Groseclose chapel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Chaplain Lawence Cousins officiating. Interment will be in Mt View Cemetery.
Hodgen was born Oct 25, 1903 in Fruitvale, Ore., and lived in and around Walla Walla most of his life, attending Mac-Hi in his youth.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Denise R. Hodgen of Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers Elmer A. Hodgen of Port Orchard, Wash., and D. It is on the North side of Frog Hollow Road and across from the Valley Chapel School. It is fenced withbarbed wire on three sides with the front side a split rail fence,not in good shape. The cemetery is overgrown with weeds, has beenvandalized and the gopher holes are numerous.There are a number of unreadable metal funeral home markers, blank stones and a few wooden markers.The land was first owned by the Harer family and it was first known as the Harer Cemetery. Mary Ellen Reser selected the site and was the first person buried there. Earliest burialfrom headstones read is 1873 and the last 1995.The reading and information from 1983 and a plat map was provided by Garland Wilson, an area historian.
