Rand Reunion Attracts 34

The third annual reunion of the Rand families was held on New Year's day at the Fruitvale hall, 34 being present.

Potluck dinner in great abundance was served at noon. Tables were appropriately decorated.

The afternoon was spent principally in reminiscing and listening to football games. Vocal and instrumental numbers were furnished by Mrs. Glen Kralman, Laverne and Elmer Kralman. Mrs. Ray Huffman, Charles and Florence Huffman.

Mrs. Henry Zinser (Nellie Rand) of Kennewick was the oldest member present: Paul Dennis, one-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. (Imogene) Meiers of Milton, the youngest. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rand.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Smalley and son Roy of Anderson, Calif., traveled the greatest distance. Claude is a son of Mrs. Zinser.

Mrs. Charles Rand had six of her eight children and seven grandchildren present. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rand had three of their five children and three grandchildren present.

Mrs. Nellie Zinser had one son and one grandson at the reunion. The children of the late William Rand were not present. There are four in this family; Mrs. Jack (Anona) Atkisson and Walter Rand who reside in Dutch flat, Calif., Mrs. Ralph (Jessie) McElroy of Pendleton and C. Burl Rand of Walla Walla.

Those present reported they are already looking forward to the next gathering of the member families.

Rand Families Have Reunion

FRUITVALE--The sixth annual reunioni of the Rand families was held at the Fruitvale hall Sunday.

Following the potluck dinner, music was furnished by Florence Huffman on her accordion and Kathleen Rand of Adams, Ore., who sang.

Mrs. Charles (Mabel) Rand of Fruitvale and Marilyn Rand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rand of Freewater, were eldest and youngest ones present.

Mrs. Nellie Rand Zinser of Kennewick, eldest of the clan, was unable to attend because of illness.

Several others were unable to attend because of the weather and illness. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rand of Fruitvale; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rand of Adams; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rand, Mr. and Mrs. John Rand and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Meirs of Milton-Freewater; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huffman of Umapine; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kralman and Miss Jeanne Ringle of Walla Walla; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rand of Stateline.

Rand Family Has Annual Reunion In Fruitvale Hall

The Sixth annual reunion of Rand families was held in the Fruitvale hall New Year's Day with 34 Present.

A potluck dinner was followed by movies and an informal social program.

Mrs. Henry (Nellie Rand) Zinser of Kennewick was the oldest member of the family present, and Marilyn, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Rand of Milton-Freewater was the youngest.

Coming the greatest distance were Mr and Mrs Claude Smalley and son Roy of Castor Valley, Calif., and A/B Elmer Kralman of Parks A.F.B., Calif.

Smalley is the son of Mrs Zinser and Kralman the son of Mr and Mrs Glen Kralman. He left for his base Saturday.

Sally Ann Stockdale

Sally Ann Stockdale, 94, died in Hermiston Tuesday.

She was born May 13, 1879 in Knoxville, Tenn. SHe had been a resident of the Stanfield Hermiston area since 1940.

Survivors include her sons: Clifford Rand of Hemet, Calif., and Walter Rand of Pendleton; her daughters; Anona Pozegar of Pendleton and Jessie McElroy of Portland; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Saturday Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Touchet Cemetery in Touchet, Wash., with REv. Jack Naff of the First Christian Church officiating.

Anona Pozegar

Anona Pozagar, of Pendleton, died Wednesday at Park Manor Nursing Home, Walla Walla, at the age of 70.

The funeral will be in Pendleton in the Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert Erickson, associate pastor of Peace Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.

Mrs. Pozegar was born in Wallula July 20, 1906 and attended Wallula schools. She was married in Superior, Mont., July 12, 1950, to Elmer "Peanuts" Pozegar. The couple had lived in Oregon for 30 years, and in Pendleton the past four years.

Besides her widower, Elmer Pozgar, at the family home in Pendlet6on, she is survived by her sister, Jessie McElroy, Portland; her brothers Water Rand, Pendleton, and Burle Rand, Hemet, Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Milton Eagle Thursday November 12 1936

Fruitvale Resident Died Monday Morning

Charles Rand, Fruitvale rancher, died at his home Monday morning following a prolonged illness at the age of 69. Born in Helena, Montana June 25, 1876, he came to the Kennewick district at the age of 12. He engaged in farming near Kennewick and Wallula until 20 years ago when he moved to Fruitvale.

Surviving relatives include his widow, Mabel McGibbon Rand, to whom he was married in 1905, eight children, Mrs Ethel Huffman of Mt Angel, Mrs Edith Kralman of Walla Walla, Mrs Agnes Larson of Elgin, William, Alvis, John, Anna Marie and Earl Rand, all of Fruitvale, one sister Mrs Nellie Zinser of Kennwick, and five grandchildren.

EDITH KRALMAN May 31, 1909 - June 25, 2006

KENNEWICK - Former Walla Walla resident Edith May Kralman, 97, died here June 25, 2006, at Edward Adult Family Home.

Viewing will be until 6 tonight at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. The graveside service and burial will be 10 am Friday in the Odd Fellows section of Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave. The Rev. Roland Shanks of Central Christian Church will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church through the funeral home.

Mrs. Kralman was born May 31, 1909, in the Horse Heaven Hills at Finley, WA to Charles and Mabel McGibbon Rand. She attended eight grades at Fruitvale, OR School. She loved music and became an accomplished pianist, playing for a small dance orchestra as a teen. She honed her skill in the ragtime era and mastered Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag."

One Sept. 18, 1928, she and Glen Adolph Kralman married in Walla Walla. She was a homemaker at their Cottonwood Road dairy farm. She had wanted to become a nurse and was frequently called to be a caregiver for convalescing friends and family. The Kralman's joined the Central Christian Church in the 1940's.

The moved to an assisted living facility in summer 2000. Mr. Kralman died in June 2002. After breaking her hip, she moved to an adult family home and was in good health until a recent bout with respiratory infection.

Survivors include daughter LaVerne Williams of Gaston, OR; son Elmer Kralman of Kennewick; sister, Anna Marie Donahue of Spokane; two brothers, John Rand of M-F and Earl Rand of Walla Walla; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Alvin Rand; and two sisters, Agnes Larson and Ethel Huffman.

Kennewick - Former area resident Glen Adolph Kralman, 96, died June 22, 2002, at Edwards Adult Family Home in Kennewick.

Viewing will be from 2-6 pm Tuesday; at 9 am until 12:30 pm Wednesday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. The graveside service and burial will be 2 pm Wednesday at Mtn. View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave., with Rev. Dick Davidson officiating.

Mr. Kralman was born Dec. 8, 1905, in Fruitvale, OR, to Frederick and Cora Buroker Kralman. He graduated in 1924 from McLoughlin Union High School, then worked on the Matt Killingsworth ranch in Pomeroy.

Trained as a barber, he had a shop in Walla Walla on Second Avenue, between Main and Rose Streets. He married Edith May Rand here on Sept. 18, 1928.

He bought farm property on Cottonwood in 1933 and continued his barber shop until after WWII started. The Kralman's lived on the ranch where he farmed full time. Buying more acreage, he raised registered Aryshire dairy cows.

The couple built a new home on their farm site in 1963. He retired in 1970. They moved to the Kennewick area in July 2000 to be near their son and daughter-in-law.

An outdoorsman and farmer, he continued raising vegetables and gardening in retirement. A storyteller, he regaled his grandchildren with his tales.

He was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Kennewick; a daughter, Laverne Williams of Gaston, OR; a son, Elmer Kralman of Kennewick; a brother, Gilbert Kralman of Milton-Freewater; four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn and Rita Kralman and two brothers, Dale and Roger Kralman.

Florence Greil

Mrs. Florence Mabel Greil, 37, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., formerly of the Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla area died there Saturday.

Mrs. Greil was born March 13, 1932 in Walla Walla. She had lived in California for the past nine years. Prior to that time she had been a resident of Umapine, Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla areas. Mrs. Greil was a member of the Presbytrian Church of Rancho Cordova.

She is survived by her husband, DeWitt Greill, at the home; four daughters, Susan, Cancice, Glenda and Stephanie; a son, Scott, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Ethel Huffman of Umapine; and two brothers Gene Huffman of Milton-Freewater; and Charles Huffman of Edmonds, Wash. She is survived by a grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Huffman of Scio, Ore.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Greil will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Walla Walla with the Rev. Howard Baker of the Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends who wish may meet at the cemetery as the casket will not be opened at the funeral home.
