1. BOSTON1 DURR was born 28 Jul 1833 in Nr Rockville, Parke, IN, and died 29 Jul 1911 in Weston, Umatilla, OR1. He married NANCY JANE RIGGS Abt. 1857 in Lebanon, Linn, OR, daughter of CHARLES RIGGS and POLLY ?. She was born 14 Oct 1842 in Illinois, and died 17 Feb 1918 in Enumclaw, Washington.

Another name is missing from the Hall of Umatilla County Pioneers
Boston Durr, an Oregon pioneer of 1853 and for nearly 40 years a highly respected resident of Weston, was called by death Saturday morning, July 29, at his home on Broad Street in this city, after a long illness with Bright's disease.
Mr. Durr was born near Rockville, Indiana, July 28, 1833, and had nearly reached the age of four score years. When 20 years old he crossed the plains by ox team and settled at Lebanon, Linn County. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy J. Riggs. In 1872, he brought his family to Weston and engaged in farming on what is known as the Waddingham place, two miles south of town. This he sold 20 years ago, and he has since made his home in town. He is survived by his widow: one daughter,
Mary M. Durr, and one son, William. L. Durr. He raised an orphan girl, Miss Minnie Ralston to womanhood. She is now married and resides at Nyssa, Oregon.
The departed pioneer was in every respect a worthy and estimable citizen. He was a man of exemplary character, of lofty and patriotic ideals of citizenship, and a devoted husband and father. He possessed a dignified and commanding personality, and might have been thought austere save for the sunny side of his nature which he presented to those who enjoyed his friendship. He was a member of the M.E. church, which he joined when 23 years old, and his strong faith afforded him much consolation during the several years of sickness which preceded his death.. He was also a member of the Umatilla County Pioneers Association.
The funeral services were held Monday morning at the family residence and were largely attended. A brief sermon was preached by Rev. Thomas Lawson, pastor of the Methodist church of Athena.

Boston Durr: lives two miles south of Weston; is a farmer; owns 160 acres of land; address is Weston. He was born in Rockville, Parke Co., Indiana, in 1833; came to Portland, Oregon, in 1853, and to this county in 1871.
