BUD OWEN

Bud L. Owen of Milton-Freewater died July 26, 1999, at Evergreen Rehabilitation and Retirement Center; he was 76.

The funeral was at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home. A ritualistic service was conducted by BPOE No. 2146 and burial followed in the M-F Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or the Bowlus Pioneer Cemetery through the funeral home.

Owen was born Nov, 26, 1922, in Pasco, to Oley and Zelma Knight Owen. He attended schools in the Walla Walla area and graduated from Walla Walla High School.

On Aug. 29, 1942, he married Bonnie Dean Harrison in Walla Walla. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1943 to December 1945.

The Owen's lived in Portland until moving to the M-F area in 1959. He worked 17 years for M-F Power & Light Co. He was also credit and station manager for Mountain Oil Co.

Active in the community, Owen served as a Pleasant View School Board member, was a 4-H leader, church worker and a counselor at the Washington State Penitentiary. He was a former Deacon of the Federated Church and a member of Ingle Chapel (United Church of Christ) Congregational Church, Good Sams Club and BPOE No. 2146 where he was an exalted ruler.

Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Michael Owen of Seattle and Richard Owen of Walla Walla; and two grandchildren, Jason Owen of Portland and Willis Owen of Milton-Freewater.
